Traian Vuia (August 17/30 , 1872 – September 2, 1950 ) was a Romanian inventor, pioneer of international aviation and member of the Romanian Academy since May 27, 1946 . He invented the first aircraft with his own means of propulsion, with which he made the first flight in human history, rising from the ground by his own means of the aircraft ( 1906 ).  Romanian and English text.  Illustrated throughout.
