This is an illustrated historical account of all aviation activity, which took place within Northamptonshire, from the first air balloon flights in the late 18th century, to the winding down of the ‘V’ bombers in the late 1970’s. There are detailed accounts and diagrams of each First World War airfield and the coverage of pre First World War air races across the county. There are full accounts devoted to all the larger pre-war and Second World War airfields coupled with their associated maintenance units and bombing ranges.
