This recently de-classified official history records the events that led to probably the greatest change in British defence policy in peacetime. It chronicles a period from the end of WWII to 1969; the threat of nuclear war and the weapons that might have been used. Beginning with the development of the atomic bomb; taking us through the brilliant work of scientists and engineers in designing Blue Danube the first British operational weapon; the building of the V-Bombers, and finally the implementation of the deterrent policy by Royal Air Force Bomber Command in partnership with the Strategic Air Command, United States Air Force.
